Gareth Hughes is an in demand freelance musician hailing from Cheshire, North West (UK) where he lives with his wife Julie-Ann. Gareth's work encompasses a wide variety of musical situations; His live work sees him performing and touring all over the UK and Europe.

 

Other performances include work on Brittany ferries and the QM2 (Cunards flagship cruise liner). Gareth also frequently records sessions for artists, T.V, film and radio as well as juggling a busy teaching schedule.


Gareth Studied at SalfordUniversity from 2002-2005 achieving a 1st class honours degree (Popular Music and Recording). He was tutored by Dave Hassel and Steve Gilbert. It was at University that Gareth started to broaden his musical pallet and developed his love for Jazz. Gareth also has a deep knowledge of Latin American music.

 

2009 has been very exciting as Gareth has had the opportunity to appear at festivals with Alan Barnes, Enrico Tomasso, John Hallam, Karen Sharp and Tom Kincaid. Visiting artists have included New York trombone virtuoso Jim Fryer and one of Germany's finest - Matthias Seuffert. He also had a fantastic time playing in Madrid. Gareth has also fulfilled a life long ambition to appear at Ronnie Scott's Jazz club. He played with Matthew Halsall, who was invited by Gilles Peterson to the 50th anniversary of the Jazz club.

 

2010 promises to be just as exciting as Gareth is hoping to confirm Brecon Jazz festival dates as well as more performances in Madrid and a tour to Canada
